Troy Stein Joins Edina Public Schools

Edina High School has a new Activities Director/Assistant Principal. Effective July 1, 2013, Troy Stein will join the District.   Stein currently holds a similar position at Chaska High School, a role he's held since 2008.

This Thursday a portion of Barrie Road in Edina will be closed  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a private contractor to set up a crane for maintenance on the 6400 Barrie Rd. building.

The 6400 Barrie Rd. address can only be accessed from the south by taking Barrie Rd. from either 65th or 66th Street. 6400 Barrie Rd. will not be accessible from the north during this time.

Dayton, Minn. DFL Leaders Reach Budget Deal

Gov. Mark Dayton and the Legislature's top Democrats announced an agreement Sunday to raise taxes on Minnesota's wealthier residents and cigarette sales and to spend the extra money on public education and to relieve pressure on local property taxes.
    

Pesek - Traffic Safety Officer of the Year

Edina Patrol Officer Nicole Pesek received the "Traffic Safety Officer of the Year" award at the annual meeting of the Hennepin County Chiefs of Police Association.

The award is given to those who show an outstanding effort in traffic code enforcement, innovation traffic safety programs, extraordinary success stories and overall dedication to traffic enforcement.

Explorer Post 925 - Way to Go!

Edina/Eden Prairie Law Enforcement Explorer Post 925 placed in five competitions at the 38th-annual Minnesota Law Enforcement Exploring Conference last month in Rochester, Minn.

Post 925 placed second in the "First Aid" and "Crime Prevention," fourth in "Use of Force" and "White Collar Crime" and fifth in "Slow Fire Pistol" competitions.
