National Bike to School Day | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Hundreds of students and their parents from elementary and middle schools will be rolling and strolling to school in Edina next week as part of National Bike (or Walk) to School Day on May 9, 2012.
The event was organized by parents with support from school staff. It's an 18-month project that's working to improve the health of community members by making changes that support healthy eating and active lifestyles. Walkers and bicyclists will receive "I Walked" or "I Biked" stickers upon arrival to school.
Bloomington and Richfield schools are also taking part.
In the U.S., International Walk to School Day is expected to be celebrated at 3,500 events at participating schools. In addition, bikers and walkers from the U.S. will join children and adults in 40 countries around the world.
