Health Officials: Hepatitis C Test Needed for MN Baby Boomers

Attention baby boomers - have you been tested for hepatitis C lately?

The Minnesota Department of Health is reminding people born from 1945 through 1965 to be tested for hepatitis C. The reminder comes for national hepatitis awareness month.

Currently, about 39,000 people statewide are living with the virus.

Hennepin Co. Voting to Align Benefits With Freedom to Marry Bill

The Hennepin County Board of commissioners will vote to direct staff to align its policies, procedures, and employee benefit coverage to match the Freedom to Marry Bill on Tuesday.

On August 1, Hennepin County staff will be prepared to both process marriage applications for LGBT couples and extend benefit coverage to any married county employee.

Fairview Southdale Hospital is asking the community to contribute $15 million in donations for a new, state-of-the-art emergency center in Edina.

The proposed $39 million center has already received $7.5 million in contributions.
