Barrie Road Closure

This Thursday a portion of Barrie Road in Edina will be closed  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a private contractor to set up a crane for maintenance on the 6400 Barrie Rd. building.

The 6400 Barrie Rd. address can only be accessed from the south by taking Barrie Rd. from either 65th or 66th Street. 6400 Barrie Rd. will not be accessible from the north during this time.

Edina City Council Member Joni Bennett was recently appointed to the Metropolitan Airport Commission's Noise Oversight Committee (NOC) as a member of the "at-large city group."  As a member of the group, Bennett will work with and advise At-large Representative John Bergman, a City Council Member from Apple Valley, on aviation issues affecting Edina.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has closed three stretches of highway in west central Minnesota due to heavy snow, high winds and low visibility. Those highways include:

MnDOT Crews Filling Potholes on I-494 This Week

MnDOT crews will spend this week filling potholes and resurfacing I-494 between France Avenue and I-35W. That means some lanes will be closed temporarily during the week.

Eastbound 494 will be reduced to a single lane between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, and again between 10 p.m. Wedneday and 6 a.m. Thursday.

As we prepare for what could be a pretty dicey weekend weather-wise (we could see several inches of snow, ice and or sleet), a quick reminder about Edina's Snow Parking Regulations.

No vehicle may be parked on a City street, highway or alley under the following conditions:

    When 1.5 inches or more of snow has fallen, until it has been plowed to the curb.

The Edina Police Department is starting something new in 2013 with the goal of safety in mind.   It's an initiative titled "Focus In."  This month, patrol officers will be educating residents about the risks of obstructed vision.  This time of year, hurried motorists often fail to take time to properly clear the frost and snow off of their windshields.
